Ha... privacy. What a dilemma with the way our modern web works.

Jokes aside — this site is my personal website and blog. I've done my best within my constraints to minimise data collection. Here's what you should know.

Who am I

I'm Mat Mytka, a netizen and human of spaceship earth. Based in Sydney, Australia.

Does this site collect your data?

The site itself does not use analytics or tracking cookies. However, some features involve third-party services:

Contact form (Tally)

The contact form on the contact page is powered by Tally. When you submit the form, your data is processed by Tally according to their privacy policy. Tally stores form submissions, which I access to respond to enquiries.

Email (Google)

If you email me directly, your message is handled by Google (Gmail). Google's privacy policy applies to that communication.

Are cookies used?

The site itself does not set cookies. However, embedded content and third-party services (like Tally) may set their own cookies. See below.

Embedded content from other websites

Some posts may include embedded content (videos, images, iframes, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves as if you visited that website directly.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content — especially if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

I avoid embedding content where possible, but it's sometimes necessary for context.

Protecting yourself

It's hard to avoid being tracked across the web in today's age of surveillance capitalism. If you want tips on protecting your privacy, check out the Electronic Frontier Foundation's wonderful guides.
